Cool that you were a rock guitarist (I was too). I have some questions:
1. How long it takes to rank a website according to your method? I’ve tried to rank three of my websites before, but they did not work. It was tedious and took me a long time to work at them and no results, so I quit.
2. How many websites do we need to make a decent income? I’ve heard we need at least 100, and hence how long to build and rank that many sites?
3. Has this business model saturated since so many of your students and others are doing it?
4. Is the learning curve steep since SEO is tedious work?
5. This business model depends on Google for us to make a living. What if Google changes their algorithms, etc. would that kill our business?
6. With Affiliate marking you can run paid ads (Facebook ads, social media, etc.) to achieve results quicker than SEO. What do you think?
7. How much is this training and all? Is it a one-time fee or a recurring fee?
This is a great group of questions, I might even add them to the FAQ’s once I answer…so here goes:
1. How long it takes to rank a website according to your method? I’ve tried to rank three of my websites before, but they did not work. It was tedious and took me a long time to work at them and no results, so I quit.
We get asked this a lot and it’s a bit like asking “how long is a piece of rope”?
Every person is different in their knowledge, experience and ability to learn. Every keyword you choose to build a website for has different ranking difficulty. With so many variables at play it’s impossible to answer that question with any exactness. So instead I must talk in extremes and you can guage where in that range you see yourself.

Understands all aspects of SEO (Keyword Research, Optimization, WordPress & Backlink building)
30-45 days is appropriate to BUILD & RANK a website.
A Newbie
Needs to learn all aspects of SEO & has never used WordPress or built a site>
60-120 days is appropriate to LEARN than BUILD & RANK a website.
2. How many websites do we need to make a decent income? I’ve heard we need at least 100, and hence how long to build and rank that many sites?
What do you consider a decent income?
$500/month – a very nice side income.
$1000/month – paying a mortgage payment
$5,000/month – quitting your job
$10,000/month – making more than most salaried occupations.
So from there, you have to factor in the rental value you can get for a site.
At $500/month
Side Income – 1 Site Rented
Mortgage Payment – 2 Sites Rented
Quit Job – 10 sites Rented
Rich – 20 sites. Rented
At $1000/month
Side Income – 1 Site Rented
Mortgage Payment – 1 Sites Rented
Quit Job – 5 sites Rented
Rich – 10 sites Rented
3. Has this business model saturated since so many of your students and others are doing it?
Not at all. When you boil this process down, it comes down to finding a good keyword that you can rank and get traffic for. The “keyword” is the opportunity, so let’s look at how many keywords could possibly exist to find.
Number of types of businesses in the USA – unknown. Let’s go with only 2500
Number of cities in the USA with population over 20k – 1800 (approx)
Number of keywords that people use to search for a single business service in a single city – unknown Let’s go with 10.
– Example: salt lake dentist, dentist salt lake, SLC dentist, dentist in SLC, salt Lake city dentist, dentist salt lake city
Just with that information, let’s do the math:
2500 business types x 1800 cities x 5 ways to search = 45 million possible keywords to target.
That doesn’t include new business types that are opening every day.
That doesn’t include any other countries.
This market will NEVER be saturated no matter how many people do this business model. There are
4. Is the learning curve steep since SEO is tedious work?
Depends on your ability to learn and my ability to teach. So far I think people have learned a lot from me and like my teaching style. But that’s up to you to decide for yourself :)
5. This business model depends on Google for us to make a living. What if Google changes their algorithms, etc. would that kill our business?
I got a good piece of advice early in my career. “Don’t create problems”. That means don’t fail to take action based on the fear of the unknown because most of the time it doesn’t materialize the way you think it will.
Google changes their algorithms almost every day, and make a major change a few times per year. I’ve been doing this for 6 years now and because I teach solid fundamentals of SEO, my sites still stick (PoolResurfacingPhoenix is still ranked #1 5 years later).
Search engines aren’t going anywhere. Google will remain at the top for a long time. Even when someone new comes along, your skills sets will give you the experience needed to adapt quicker than most.
6. With Affiliate marking you can run paid ads (Facebook ads, social media, etc.) to achieve results quicker than SEO. What do you think?
If by results you mean profits that depends.
YES. You can get a profit quicker with paid ads…but…
Do you know how many people fail at paid ads because it’s not just as easy buying ads and making profits? Ad Copy, Landing Pages, Audience Targeting, Product Selection. These are all skills you have to learn with paid ads.
Also, with affiliate marketing you do not own the product, or the commission rate. Those can disappear at anytime. Amazon recently lowered the commission rate of all it’s affiliates. I prefer to build assets that I control .
There is no business model that is all profit and no skill.
7. How much is this training and all? Is it a one-time fee or a recurring fee?
Great answers. Thanks! Follow up questions:
1. I would consider myself a newbie so it would probably take me 60-120 days to learn and BUILD & RANK a website as you indicated above. Once the website is ranked, is it an easy sale to local businesses?
2. Do you show how to reach out to local businesses with pre-written email templates and scripts?
3. Since it’s going to take 60-120 days for learning, building, ranking, how much money do I need to set aside to cover for this non-making money period?
4. Will I be making enough per month to cover all the expenses?
5. What’s the success rate of your students?
1. I would consider myself a newbie so it would probably take me 60-120 days to learn and BUILD & RANK a website as you indicated above. Once the website is ranked, is it an easy sale to local businesses?
Please take those numbers/timelines with a grain of salt. As I mentioned, there are many variables, it could take you more or even less time. It all depends on the person!
Ok so once the site is ranking, it’s the amount of calls that make it valuable. You can rent a site just purely based on Rankings, but ultimately what every business owner really wants is “new customers”. So if you site is generating a lot of calls that puts you in a solid position. If you’ve done everything right, you should be generating those calls.
Next, the hardest part is finding someone to take the free trial…but that’s purely out of people’s natural skepticism to “marketing”. But I’ll take more about that in the answer to your next question.
2. Do you show how to reach out to local businesses with pre-written email templates and scripts?
Yes of course! We have a whole module called RENT which is all about how to prospect your site, negotiate a price and ultimately close a deal.
To rent the site we give away “FREE SAMPLES” in the form of a free trial of the rental. We send X number of calls or X Number of days worth of calls to the potential renter so that they can get some free business. This method is FAR less risky for a business as they don’t have to pay, or even agree to pay anything to trial the service. Most businesses aren’t used to this so it comes off quite pleasant to them.
3. Since it’s going to take 60-120 days for learning, building, ranking, how much money do I need to set aside to cover for this non-making money period?
If it takes that long…
So your budget really depends on the amount of properties you want to build! A healthy single property budget is around $500 which includes domain name, hosting, content, design & backlinks.
4. Will I be making enough per month to cover all the expenses?
Your monthly expenses on a rank and rent site are MINIMAL. Your set up expenses are going to be the brunt of the cost. However, since a rental is a monthly income, you should be profitable on your first or second month with most rented sites. Depends what rental value you get of course!
5. What’s the success rate of your students?
What’s that story about the guy who broke the record for the 4 minute mile? Everyone thought it was impossible until that dude did it. Then as soon as he did it, it became common. Personally, if I see 1000 people trying, but just ONE person doing it successfully, than that’s the person I want to model. The other 999 aren’t my inspiration or reason.
If I told you it was 100% I’d be a liar.
If I told you it was 0% you wouldn’t do it.
My answer here shouldn’t sway your decision at all since once again, everyone is different. Not everyone who joins watches the training, or takes action.
So of those students who actually take action, I think the success rate is really good.
If we include all the people who purchased, the success rate sucks to be honest. But was it the training that failed them or their level of commitment?
If we include all the people who took the free training, it’s almost zero since we have thousands of students that took the training.
You shouldn’t base your decisions on the actions of others. They say that 99% of all business start ups fail…does that mean owning a business doesn’t work?
I was in the middle of moving guys and had lost my phone. I am just now getting to sign in and register. Is there anyway you can send me copies of the first ones, I’m extremely interested, determined and motivated!! I’m a sol supporter of a 15yr old and unemployed at the moment so I not only want this but I need it too,ya know?? Thanks guys so much. I already own deep scout, the 1st half and I was wondering how much if will cost me to upgrade to the 2nd part of it?Thanks for everything guys
Hi Natasha, I’m not quite sure what you mean by “copies of the first ones”? Videos? Emails? Since you are commenting on Lesson 4 video that means you should have access to Lesson 1, 2 & 3 as well. Just click on the top menu.
As for Deep Scout, do you mean SERPscout? That is one of the 4 softwares that comes with Full Club Access to RankAndRent.club. We can take what you already paid for SERPscout and apply it as an additional coupon if you decide to join.
Looking forward to hearing more about your Kw tool and how you use the Project Supremacy tools. I have a few sights I would love to enhance views for and your SEO tips in the first 3 videos plus the worksheet will help me break the barrier to increasing views to my sites.
Herc, this is just the type tools, knowledge, and insight that everyone needs, especially now that so many of us have been laid off en mass, where someone else’s politics, reasons, or whatever could knock you right out of your job, attempt to force you back to a dangerous one, or vacuum out your pockets and leave you feeling like a victim…Huge thanks to you , Todd and the team for creating these extraordinary tools…
Hi Herc.
First of all, thank you for the great pieces of guidance here.
